See unit on screen
The redox or ORP value is usually displayed in millivolts; It is not read directly as chlorine concentration. There is no fixed conversion coefficient valid for every pool between the chlorine result given by a test method and this value. The number on the screen should not be interpreted without knowing which sensor the control panel uses.
Measurement conditions are evaluated together
Probe condition, sample flow, and other properties of the water can affect control behavior. If comparison is to be made with laboratory or hand-held measurement, the location and time of sampling should be recorded. It may be misleading to consider two values taken at different times and from different points as device failure alone.
Questions to be asked in the control system
- Does the device measure chlorine or redox directly?
- Which manufacturer's procedure is used to clean and calibrate the probe?
- How is the control that stops dosing verified when flow is interrupted?
- With what warning is the measurement failure notified to the user?
Do not copy target value
Rather than porting another pool's setup to your own system, equipment, water conditions, and operating requirements should be evaluated. Determining the settings and control method by a competent technical officer ensures reliable monitoring beyond just seeing a number on the screen.
