Which devices are actually controlled?
List the pump, heater, lighting, dosing and other devices one by one. Ask if only on/off control, speed or target value control is offered. Request confirmation of compatibility with the brand and model of the devices.
What data is measured?
Learn the sensors used for temperature, level, flow, pressure and water chemistry values. Make sure that the measured value is separated from the value predicted by the software. Calibration and consumable parts needs should be included in the offer.
What happens if the connection is lost?
The behavior of the system in case of internet, electricity or communication outage should be written. It should be explained how the program continues after reboot and what protections remain local.
Who can access it, are records kept?
Ask about user and service authorizations, turning off remote access, and event history features. What channel do notifications come from, how many users are supported and are additional subscriptions required? These affect the total cost of ownership.
What is the delivery and subsequent support like?
Checkpoint list, working scenario, backup, password delivery, training and fault support method should be determined. If it is desired to add new equipment, it should be explained within what limits the expansion can be made.
